Benefits of COGR Membership

Making a Difference

As a COGR Member, your institution supports the work of the COGR staff and committees, as well as the ability of researchers to conduct cutting-edge research—which contributes to making the United States research enterprise the global leader.

Priority Consideration of Member-Specific Concerns

On all policy issues—large or small, public or private—members’ issues are reflected in COGR’s policy advocacy.

Eligibility to Attend COGR Events

Invitation to register for all COGR in-person and virtual meetings, forums, webinars, and other events.

Eligibility to Participate in Committees and Workgroups

COGR staff regularly make calls to the membership to join issues-targeted workgroups and to participate in crafting association letters and publications. Interested member representatives can also request to participate in other ways.

Access to COGR Staff and Committee Members

Member representatives regularly raise issues with staff and the committees that are specific to their institution. These issues are sometimes unique but they often affect other institutions. COGR works to address these issues and leverages the knowledge and information in its programmatic and advocacy efforts.

Access to Other Associations

COGR works closely with many partners, including AAU, APLU, ACE, AAMC, AIRI, AUTM, EDUCAUSE, NACUBO, and others to help ensure issues are communicated in a strong, collective, and cohesive manner.

Access to COGR Email Communications

COGR regularly provides email communications about breaking news and announcements on research policy issues, as well as the COGR News Digest (3 X per week), the COGR Update (6-8 X per year), and other association communications. Staff from member institutions can request access to the COGR Portal and Listserv here.

COGR Resources: Publications, Surveys, Policy Analysis, and Guidance

COGR regularly publishes in-depth research policy documents and analyses, some of which are available only to members in the COGR Portal.

Networking

COGR in-person and virtual meetings offer excellent opportunities to meet and connect with colleagues at other institutions. COGR staff regularly connect member representatives with colleagues at other institutions about shared issues and opportunities so they can provide and share expertise, solutions, and guidance.

Community

Be part of an organization of over 230 of the most research intensive institutions in the nation that are the back of the U.S. research enterprise.
